Manufacturing & Quality

How a leather product is made, and how quality is judged against the sample you approved rather than a generic standard.

How a leather product is made

  1. Hide selection. Hides are chosen for the grade, colour and thickness agreed on the sample.
  2. Cutting. Panels are cut from the best areas of each hide for visible parts, and matched for grain and shade within each piece.
  3. Preparation. Edges are skived (thinned) where panels join or fold, and reinforcements are added.
  4. Stitching and assembly. Panels, linings and hardware are assembled to the approved construction.
  5. Finishing. Edges are painted or burnished, threads trimmed, and the surface cleaned and conditioned.
  6. Branding and labelling. Logos applied and labels attached as specified.

Development and production services

What happens between your brief and a shipped order.

The options available for your product are confirmed during quotation. Tell us what you have in mind in your request and we will advise what can be done.

Defining "acceptable" before production

The most useful quality document is an agreed list of what counts as a defect — for example, permitted natural marks, stitch-per-inch range, measurement tolerances and colour standard. Send yours with your request, or ask us to draft one with your sample. Our pre-shipment quality checklist is a starting point.

Factory and evidence

We are adding photographs of our workshop and production on this page. Ask in your request if you would like to see production photos for your order.

Have a design or a reference product?

Send it with your quantities and destination. We will come back with questions, a quotation and a sampling plan.
