Online custom shop or manufacturer?
There are two main ways to buy custom varsity jackets:
- Online custom shops, such as Varsity Base, Varsity Grid and Varsity Made, let you design a jacket in a web builder and order small quantities, often one jacket. They suit individuals and small groups.
- Direct manufacturers make jackets to your own design and label in bulk. They suit clothing brands, schools, teams and distributors who want their own specification, branding and a repeatable product.
Reading reviews of any supplier helps, but look past star ratings: check how they handled sampling, colour matching and delivery dates.
Questions to ask any varsity jacket supplier
- Do you make the jackets or resell them? A manufacturer controls quality and lead time directly.
- What are the body fabric and sleeve materials? Ask for the wool blend and whether sleeves are genuine leather or PU.
- Can I see a sample first? A physical sample is the only reliable way to judge colour, fit and chenille quality.
- How is chenille made and applied? Check the letter edges, density and stitching.
- What is the minimum order, and how does it change with colours and sizes?
- What happens if bulk does not match the approved sample? Agree defect criteria and an inspection before shipment.
- What are the shipping terms and duties to my country? See Incoterms explained.
Buying from a manufacturer in Pakistan
Sialkot, Pakistan, is a long-established centre for leather and garment manufacturing. Buyers in the USA and Europe source varsity jackets there for the combination of leather expertise and garment production. Compare suppliers in Pakistan vs China vs India.
Red flags
- No sample offered before bulk
- Vague answers on materials ("premium leather" with no type)
- Prices far below everyone else without an explanation
- Photos that appear on many other suppliers' websites
